Fitted carpet cleaning in Lviv, homes and offices

Fitted carpet differs from a rug in one way: it cannot be lifted or aired. All the dust that settles into the pile stays there and in the underlay, and the only way to get it out is extraction in place.

What it costs

The unit is the area covered: UAH 130 per square metre. A 15 m² room is UAH 1,950, a 40 m² office UAH 5,200. Furniture standing on the carpet is moved to the free part of the room; anything that cannot be moved is cleaned around.

The minimum order is UAH 2,000, which on fitted carpet is reached at about 15 m².

How long it dries

Eight to twelve hours — longer than a rug, because the moisture also goes into the underlay. In a flat that means a morning booking; in an office, Friday evening so the floor is dry by Monday.

Do not walk on it while damp: fresh dirt packs straight into the open pile and part of the work is undone.

Household shampoo versus extraction

The difference is not the product but what happens next. Shampoo is applied and blotted: most of the solution, with the dissolved dirt in it, stays in the underlay, dries and turns into a sticky layer that attracts dirt faster than before.

An extractor injects under pressure and draws it straight back. That is why carpet does not start soiling faster after it — and usually does after a home shampoo.

Offices and homes

In an office fitted carpet wears unevenly: the traffic lanes by the door and along the desks darken several times faster than the rest. Cleaning only those makes the contrast worse, so the whole room is priced.

In a home the carpet is more often in a bedroom or a child's room, and there the reason to clean is not appearance but dust: mites live in the pile, and it is the mites rather than a stain that justify a regular treatment.

How often

Once a year at home, twice in an office with traffic, and sometimes quarterly by the entrance and reception. It is not about looks: abrasive grit collects in the pile and cuts the fibre at its base long before the carpet starts to look dirty.

The cheapest way to extend its life is not cleaning but a barrier mat at the door: most of the grit stops there.

What does not come out

Pile worn through in the traffic path, sun bleaching by the window, marks from furniture feet that stood for years, and paint. That is wear and damage, not dirt, and cleaning does not bring it back.
