Mattress cleaning in Lviv at your home

A mattress can neither be soaked nor taken away to be cleaned: there is no way to pull moisture back out of it, and inside it turns into mould. So it is cleaned with an extractor — the solution goes into the fibre and comes straight back with whatever had soaked in.

What it costs

The unit is the side treated, not the square metre:

• one side — UAH 600;
• single mattress, both sides — UAH 999;
• double — UAH 1,100;
• double, both sides — UAH 1,799;
• heavily soiled or old mattress — UAH 1,200 per side.

The minimum order is UAH 2,000, so a mattress is usually booked with a sofa (UAH 1,299) or a carpet (UAH 130 per square metre).

How long it dries

Six to ten hours depending on the filling and the airflow. A sprung mattress dries faster than solid foam, and latex takes longest of all. Bedding must not go on a damp mattress: under a sheet the moisture has nowhere to go and a smell appears within a day.

That is why a mattress is booked in the morning rather than the evening, with somewhere else to sleep if it is the only bed.

Stains: what works on what

Blood and sweat are protein: they come out with cold water and peroxide, which is exactly why they must never be treated with anything hot. Urine is salts: the mark may vanish while the smell returns in damp weather until the salts are dissolved and drawn out completely. Coffee and wine are dye: they lift, but old ones can leave a shadow.

Yellow patches on an old mattress are oxidised sweat: they lighten but do not disappear. We will not promise otherwise.

What we do not clean

A mattress with a torn cover and exposed filling, a mattress with mould inside, and one that has already been soaked through — three cases where cleaning does not help. In the first two we decline before the visit; in the third we say the result will be partial.

Children's mattresses and allergies

In a child's room the mattress is cleaned more often than an adult bed — not because of stains but because of dust mites: they live in the filling, and no protector removes them. Extraction pulls both the mites and their residue out of the fibre, and it is the residue that provokes the reaction.

For an allergy sufferer the pair that works is the mattress twice a year plus pillows washed on a schedule. One clean a year holds for a few months before the population recovers.

How to keep the result

The cheapest measure is a waterproof protector: it costs less than one clean and washes like a sheet. After that, turn the mattress every three months and vacuum it when you change the bedding.
