Walls are not cleaned end to end in a base clean — that is a separate job of several hours. But the areas where marks show every day are part of a normal visit: switches, the patch by the door handle, the corner by the coat rack, the splashback behind the cooker.
What a normal clean covers
- switches, sockets and the intercom panel;
- doors, handles and door frames;
- the area by the door where hand marks collect;
- the kitchen splashback and the wall behind the sink;
- the wall by the toilet and basin in the bathroom.
When whole walls need cleaning
Three cases: after building work, after a leak, and before letting a flat. The first two are post-renovation cleaning priced by area at UAH 150 per square metre. The third is best handled by adding an hour (UAH 450) to a normal clean and asking for the walls in one specific room.
The surface decides
Washable paint and tiles tolerate a damp cloth and a product. Matt paint does not: moisture leaves marks more visible than the original one, and every further attempt makes the patch larger.
Paintable wallpaper is cleaned with minimal moisture and only on the spot. Paper and textile wallpaper is not cleaned at all — only a dry sponge works there, and not always.
Marks that do not come off
Felt tip and biro on light paint, a grease mark someone attacked with an abrasive, and soot from candles near the ventilation. We attempt the first two but say plainly: in half the cases it needs paint rather than cleaning.
Doors and frames
Doors soil unevenly: the top collects dust, the bottom takes shoe marks and mop splashes, and the most visible area is around the handle. That is done separately and dried, because it is where a smeared product leaves a cloudy film.
The frame and architraves are the part most often missed: dust settles on the upper edge and only shows against the light. They are included in a base clean.
Ceilings
Not part of a base clean. Dust is taken off before painting or after building work, and that is again cleaning priced by area rather than a normal visit.
How long it takes
Switches and doors in a two-room flat take 10–15 minutes within the visit. Cleaning all the walls in one room is an hour to an hour and a half and is planned separately.
