Window cleaning in central Lviv

In central Lviv a window is rarely standard: tenement flats have wooden frames with two rows of sashes, the ceilings are high, and a sill half a metre deep often stands between you and the glass. The price is the same as on the outskirts — UAH 320 per window including the glass, frame and sill.

What UAH 320 covers

• glass on both reachable sides;
• the frame, hardware and seal;
• the sill;
• the drainage slots at the bottom of the profile, on plastic windows.

Insect screens and balcony glazing are counted separately. A balcony is UAH 250, and glazing is priced by section.

Wooden frames with two rows of sashes

Such a window takes up to half an hour instead of the usual fifteen minutes: there are twice as many sashes, dust collects between them, and the old putty by the glass crumbles under pressure. We work with as little water as possible — timber absorbs moisture, and a soaked frame dries out and warps by the next season.

The price does not change: it is per window, not per hour.

High ceilings and transoms

In tenement flats the upper transom is often above head height. If there is no step ladder in the flat, one is added to the order for UAH 599 — without it the top of the window stays dirty, and that shows more from the street than from inside.

Stained glass and divided lights

Some tenement windows have small divided panes or coloured glass in the upper transom. Those are cleaned by hand without a squeegee: the blade does not fit between the beading, and pressing on old glass is a risk we do not take. Up to forty minutes per window, the same price.

Access and the pedestrian zone

If the building is in the pedestrian zone, say so when booking: the cleaner arrives with equipment, and how far it has to be carried decides the length of the visit. The same goes for the lift — most tenement buildings have none.

When to clean

Twice a year — in spring after the heating season and in autumn before it. The centre has one extra factor: on busy streets soot joins the dust and the glass turns grey within two months, so a third visit in summer makes sense.

What we do not do

We do not clean windows from outside by climbing through the frame and do not work at height beyond a step ladder. In a tenement with fixed sashes the outer face is often unreachable from inside — we say so before the booking.
